A new Public Policy Polling (PPP) survey has been released, showing Barack Obama leading John McCain 50%-39% in the state of Ohio.

The poll surveyed 733 Ohio voters from June 14-15.  Obama leads by equal margins among men and women.

Another very interesting part of the poll is that it shows that Sen. George Voinovich is very vulnerable to defeat in 2010 against either Rep. Tim Ryan or Rep. Betty Sutton.

Voinovich's approval rating stands at 31% approve, 39% disapprove, 29% unsure.  When matched up against Rep. Tim Ryan, Ryan and Voinovich tie at 33% each, with 34% unsure.  When matched up against Rep. Betty Sutton, Voinovich receives 37%, Sutton receives 32%, with 32% undecided.  This is a prime pick-up opportunity in 2010.

Some crosstabs for the presidential race:

Party ID:

Self-identified Democrats: 55%
Self-identified Republicans: 30%
Other: 15%

Age:

18-29: 17%
30-45: 28%
46-65: 41%
65+: 14%

Additionally, they likely underestimate Obama's African-American support, as they show Obama leading McCain by only 75%-21%.  Obama will likely receive a higher African-American vote share.

In addition, the "Obama can't win white Ohio voters" meme is blown to shreds, as Obama leads 46-42 among white Ohio voters.
